Today is November 1, which marks the first day of Men’s Health Awareness Month. For Fans for the Cure, it also marks the start of our popular Movember 2021 campaign, where men assemble teams of relatives of friends to support their monthlong attempts to grow mustaches and put a focus on the importance of getting screened for prostate cancer.
Leading from the Top
Our founder, Ed Randall, and our Board Chairman, Steve Garvey, have committed their upper lips to the campaign. Photos of Ed and Steve, along with those of additional celebrities and athletes who join our roster, will appear on our website and social media throughout the month of November.
Get Involved: Be a Fundraiser
The idea is to set up a personal page via the charity’s Movember 2021 webpage, then recruit folks to support your mustache. Setup is easy, and the campaign has been a lot of fun. And feel no pressure to grow a mustache that rivals that of Tom Selleck or Rollie Fingers – we have had several participants over the years who have received larger donations to shave their mustaches than to grow them. While mustaches are recommended, facial hair of all varieties are welcomed.
Supporting Our Programs
As we mentioned, all gross proceeds go to a good cause – the Online Support Groups, community screening initiatives, and educational programs of Fans for the Cure.
As we did last year, everyone who raises over $500 will receive an official Rawlings MLB baseball autographed by Steve Garvey.
