Since 2007, Fans for the Cure has organized the Baseball Road Trip, the largest healthcare initiative in the history of Minor League Baseball. The yearly summer road trip is in keeping with our mission to raise awareness about prostate cancer, testing, and treatment. Every summer, we hit the road on a tour of Minor League Baseball stadiums, sharing important, up-to-date information and statistics with the men and their families and friends in attendance at games across the USA. This year, we’re excited to participate in the 14th Annual Baseball Road Trip.
A Message Aimed at the Strike Zone
As a charity, we are always looking for better ways to share prostate cancer awareness and education messages more effectively. For this year’s Baseball Road Trip, as an Official Charitable Partner of Minor League Baseball, we are working closely with Minor League Baseball (MiLB) to bring our prostate cancer awareness and education messages to the big screens of stadiums. Chairman of the Board, former Dodgers and Padres great, Steve Garvey recorded public service announcements to be run on stadium video boards, aimed at encouraging men to get themselves tested for prostate cancer at the most advantageous age.
Minor League Baseball has been instrumental in coordinating our awareness campaign, working closely with their 160 clubs affiliated with Major League teams.
In addition to playing our videos featuring Steve Garvey, ballclubs will be stationing personnel at entry gates to distribute our newest information pamphlet, packed with up-to-date stats, information, and guidance about prostate cancer for men and their families.
Minor League Baseball fans can also win a bat autographed by the home team and a custom-made Fans for the Cure regulation baseball autographed by Steve Garvey (which comes with a certificate of authenticity.)
