The George Washington Bridge’s 156 LED necklace lights will shine with blue light for the month of September to commemorate National Prostate Health Month.
“The Port Authority is honored to join with Fans for the Cure by shining a spotlight on men’s health,” Port Authority Executive Director Pat Foye said. “Illuminating the George Washington Bridge with blue lights will honor those affected by prostate cancer, and remind everyone of the steps they can take to protect their health.”
Our Founder and CEO, Ed Randall, expressed his delight and gratitude for this important awareness raising effort:
“Our charity is honored to have the Port Authority light the George Washington Bridge blue through September to bring attention to Prostate Cancer Awareness Month. Almost as many men will be diagnosed with the number one non-skin cancer this year as cross the George Washington Bridge every month. Let the lighting of this iconic structure serve as a beacon for men’s health.”
Prostate Cancer Awareness and Education
As a 501(c)(3) charity, Fans for the Cure is committed to preserving the quality of men’s lives by promoting the importance of identifying prostate cancer in its earliest stages. The charity both encourages regular doctor checkups and, in association with our healthcare partners and professionals, provides baseline PSA testing and consultation. We also offer educational and support seminars, printed and online reference materials, and referrals to physicians and cutting-edge research – all in the service of achieving best practices in the diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer.
