Transcript of Elliot Kalb’s Prostate Cancer Awarness Service Announcement
I’m Elliot Kalb with MLB Network, and there’s few things I enjoy more than Talking Baseball with Ed Randall. One of the things enjoy least is going to the doctor, but Ed Randall has impressed upon me the importance of screening for prostate cancer.
So, I recently went to my doctor for a physical and made sure I was tested. I’m not a prostate cancer survivor like Ed, but merely an advocate for all men my age in their early 50’s to make sure there is no problem, or one that can be treated if there is. Early detection of prostate cancer saves lives.
For someone that has spent a lifetime in baseball with the nickname Mr. Stats, the most promising stat I can give you is this, the five year survival rate approaches 100 percent if prostate cancer is detected in the early stages.
Men are not nearly as good as women about going to doctors at any point in their lives. We’re all busy. We all feel fine, but if we want to stay in the game as long as possible, we have to make that effort to go to the doctor and get that blood test.
Thanks Ed for your passion and such a great, great cause.
