As we approach June — National Men's Health Month — Fans for the Cure enters the busiest stretch of our year.
Over the next six months, our team will travel to communities, ballparks, arenas, video boards, and the airwaves, bringing prostate cancer education, awareness, and support directly to men and families where they live, work, gather, and cheer for their teams.
Earlier this month, we were proud to join Strike Out Cancer Weekend at Comerica Park alongside the Detroit Tigers and Karmanos Cancer Institute, helping bring cancer awareness programming to thousands of fans over three days devoted to men’s health, women’s cancers, and pediatric diseases.
Looking ahead, Fans for the Cure will participate in MLB All-Star Village in Philadelphia from July 11–14 during one of baseball’s biggest weeks of the year.
Please visit our website and follow our growing June calendar of events.
Finally, my sincere thanks to the many supporters who continue to stand with Fans for the Cure during a challenging time for community-based nonprofits. We are especially grateful to the many Major League Baseball managers, coaches, and players who support our work, along with the MLBPA Players Trust for matching gifts made by its members.
Thank you, as always, for supporting what we do. |

Wrapping Up a Meaningful Year with Rutgers Cancer Institute and ScreenNJ
|
| |
|
In June, Fans for the Cure will wrap up its year-long community outreach grant in partnership with Rutgers Cancer Institute and ScreenNJ.
As part of the final month of the grant period, Fans for the Cure will participate in several upcoming June community events, including:
- June 6 – Men's Health Extravaganza, Totowa, NJ.
- June 7 – Health and Wellness Festival, Union City, NJ.
- June 20 – Men's Health and Life Screenings, Jersey City, NJ.
Please see the Community Calendar below for further details about these and additional events.
Throughout the year, we have been grateful for the support, collaboration, and shared commitment of our grantors and community partners in helping reach men and families with important health information and access to screening resources.
Just as meaningful were the ongoing monthly Zoom discussions that brought together organizations from across New Jersey to exchange ideas, share challenges, and learn from one another. It has been inspiring to work alongside — and learn from — so many dedicated and effective community organizations.
We thank Rutgers Cancer Institute and ScreenNJ for the opportunity to be part of this impactful effort. |

One of the most important messages Fans for the Cure will continue sharing during Men's Health Month is also one of the simplest:
The primary screening test for prostate cancer is a simple blood test.
For many men, that means simply checking the box for a PSA test as part of an annual physical and routine blood panel discussion with a doctor.
Just as important: remind the men in your life — friends, brothers, fathers, coworkers — to have the conversation as well.
Early detection continues to lead to better outcomes. And because approximately 90% of prostate cancer cases are diagnosed before symptoms appear, waiting for warning signs is not a reliable strategy.
That is why awareness matters. Conversations matter. And so does one simple blood test. |

Annual Mets Prostate Cancer Screening – June 9 at Citi Field
|
| |
|
Fans for the Cure is proud to once again partner with the New York Mets and NewYork-Presbyterian for our annual prostate cancer screening event at Citi Field on Tuesday, June 9, from 5:30 p.m. until approximately 8:00 p.m.
The screening event will take place in the Heineken Lounge, where physicians and medical professionals will also be available for conversation and to answer questions about prostate cancer, PSA testing, and next steps in care.
In 2025, a record 303 men were screened during this important community initiative — a powerful reminder of the impact that access, awareness, and trusted partnerships can have.
All men screened will receive a voucher redeemable for two tickets to select upcoming Mets games.
Please note: a game ticket is required to participate in the screening event.
We hope you will join us for an evening focused on awareness, education, and action. |

A Visit to AstraZeneca Hope Lodge Philadelphia – American Cancer Society
|
| |
|
Fans for the Cure recently had the opportunity to tour the American Cancer Society’s Hope Lodge in Cheltenham, Pennsylvania, just outside Philadelphia — an inspiring visit that offered a powerful reminder of how much support matters during a cancer journey.
Serving patients receiving treatment at many of the region’s leading medical centers — including Fox Chase Cancer Center, Penn Medicine, Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, and Temple University Hospital — Hope Lodge provides free lodging and community support for cancer patients and caregivers traveling far from home for treatment.
The facility includes more than 100 beds and offers residents far more than temporary housing. Shared kitchens, gathering spaces, transportation assistance, and a welcoming sense of community help patients and families navigate what can often be one of the most difficult periods of their lives.
Fans for the Cure is also proud to be working with the American Cancer Society through its Empower program and will be one of approximately 200 organizations that provide dinner annually for Hope Lodge residents.
It was a wonderful and moving visit — and a reminder that support, compassion, and community remain essential parts of cancer care. |

Thanks to Hannah and Laurie from the Tigers and Karmanos for their support and hospitality in making this brief road trip possible. |
