February gave us the opportunity to focus on those who often stand just outside the spotlight as they offer their time and their love — caregivers.
On February 20, in collaboration with the American Cancer Society, we advanced our Caregivers Connection initiative on National Caregivers Day with an afternoon virtual webinar featuring prominent panelists, followed by an evening reception in New York City. The discussions were thoughtful and practical, reinforcing that caregivers deserve recognition and support alongside the men they care for. Caregivers Connection will continue to grow throughout 2026 and well beyond.
March brings a full community schedule, including free screenings and educational programs across New Jersey, the Bronx, Westchester and Long Island, as well as in locations around the U.S.. Bringing screening directly into neighborhoods — particularly for uninsured and underserved men — remains central to our mission.
Looking ahead, 30 Catches in 30 Days will begin in June for Men’s Health Month and continue through September and early October, as it always has. Expanding the calendar creates more opportunities for participation while reinforcing the importance of men taking charge of their health.
Thank you for being part of this work. |

Caregivers Connection: National Caregivers Day
|
| |
|
On February 20, Fans for the Cure advanced its Caregivers Connection initiative in collaboration with the American Cancer Society to mark National Caregivers Day.
The afternoon webinar brought together respected clinicians, advocates, and caregivers to discuss the emotional realities of supporting a man through diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship. The conversation addressed communication challenges, shifting family roles, and the importance of caregiver self-care.
That evening, participants and supporters gathered in New York City to recognize caregivers and reaffirm our commitment to expanding this program throughout 2026 and going forward. |

What We Heard From Caregivers
|
| |
|
Since we began our online support groups and have walked more deeply into communities, one message has come through clearly: caregivers often feel unprepared for the emotional weight of the role.
Many described becoming schedulers, note-takers, researchers, and steady anchors for their families — often while managing their own fears quietly. Several emphasized how helpful it is when physicians and care teams speak directly to caregivers and acknowledge their role in the care process.
Caregivers Connection is designed to meet those needs. When caregivers are supported, men facing prostate cancer feel more strongly supported as well. |

March Community Outreach Expands
|
| |
|
March brings a full schedule of community education, including screening events across New Jersey, the Bronx, and Long Island.
Through our Rutgers/ScreenNJ grant, Fans for the Cure will continue to advocate for free PSA screenings to uninsured men in New Jersey. Educational programs in the Bronx and on Long Island will focus on risk factors, screening guidelines, and how men can interpret PSA results responsibly.
A PSA test does not diagnose prostate cancer. It provides information that helps guide appropriate follow-up and informed decisions. Bringing educational services directly into neighborhoods remains central to our mission. |

Early June: On the Field and In the Ballpark
|
| |
|
Our expanded 30 Catches in 30 Days initiative will begin in early June for Men’s Health Month with two meaningful baseball partnerships.
On June 7, Fans for the Cure will join the Cedar Rapids Kernels for a post-game catch on the field. All attendees are invited to participate — last June, more than 600 fans took part. Physicians and staff from Mercy Urology Clinic will be present to provide educational information and answer questions about prostate health.
We are grateful to our friends at Rawlings for donating the baseballs used for the on-field catches and for autographs provided by Kernels players.
On June 9, Fans for the Cure will return to Citi Field for our annual PSA screening event in collaboration with the New York Mets and NewYork-Presbyterian. Ballpark screenings remain an effective way to reach men who might not otherwise engage with preventive care. |

Boone Squad Returning for 2026
|
| |
|
The Boone Squad will return for the 2026 MLB season. Along with Aaron Boone, a growing group of managers, coaches, and players has already pledged their support. (See a full list in the March newsletter.)
One can join the Boone Squad by pledging $1.00 per Yankees win and $1.00 per Yankees home run during the 2026 regular season. As in 2025, we will send you a payment reminder a few days after the season ends.
When respected leaders in baseball speak openly about men’s health, the conversation becomes easier and more accessible. The Boone Squad continues to demonstrate how visibility and leadership can help encourage men to take a more active role in their health.
When players hit the field for spring training, you can bet our Boone Squad campaign will be up and running.
Drop an email to [email protected] if you want to sponsor, support, or pledge to this campaign. |
