As we roll through 2025, I am proud to share that Fans for the Cure is more committed than ever to our mission—meeting men where they are, spreading the message of early detection and, thanks to our team of exceptional healthcare collaborators, participating in dozens of free screenings across the country. Thanks to your support, we continue to grow our impact, one community at a time.
On May 13, we will return to Citi Field with our great partners at the New York Mets and NewYork-Presbyterian, offering free prostate cancer screenings to fans and neighbors. We invite you to come out and join us for an evening at the ballpark that could also be an important first step toward protecting the health and quality of life of you or a loved one.
And speaking of baseball, we are excited to announce the Boone Squad. Yankees’ manager Aaron Boone has stepped up in a big way to support Fans for the Cure this season. We invite you to stand with Aaron and join The Boone Squad with a pledge or donation that powers our outreach and screening programs all year long. For more information, go to fansforthecure.org/boone.
Together, we are making a real difference—in communities, in ballparks, and in the lives of men and their families.
Thanks for being part of the team, |

Charity Collaborates on Brooklyn Screening
|
| |
Fans for the Cure joined with our friends from Novellis Health, the American Cancer Society, the American-Italian Cancer Foundation, and NYC City Council Member Rita Joseph (and many others) on an April 26 prostate cancer screening, hosted by the Parkside Preparatory Academy in Brooklyn, N.Y.
Thanks to everybody for bringing this terrific event together in a matter of weeks. The health component was held in conjunction with an academic awards ceremony held in the school’s auditorium for several area grade schools, hosted by Council Member Joseph.
A special shoutout to the Sherman Abrams Laboratory for their services and to the team of healthcare professionals who made the onsite PSA blood draw possible. A special thanks also goes out to the physicians who were on hand to lend support and answer questions, especially Dr. Errol Mallett of Novellis who arrived early and stayed until the very end. |

Stay in the Game Podcast to Feature NYU’s Dr. James Wysock
|
| |
Fans for the Cure was pleased to welcome Dr. James Wysock of NYU Langone Health for the latest edition of the Stay in the Game podcast. The release date of this conversation is scheduled for early May and will be available on Spotify, Apple, and on most podcast platforms.
In a wide-ranging discussion, Dr. Wysock discussed hot topics within the prostate cancer world, including transperineal vs. transrectal biopsies, PSMA PET, and non-invasive HIFU (high-intensity focused ultrasound) technology as a treatment alternative.
Dr. Wysock also gave us a preview of “Fundamentals of Prostate MRI and Transperineal Interventions,” and a hands-on all-day course he taught last week (along with Arvin K. George, MD) in advance of the 2025 AUA Conference.
Thank you to Bayer, Cancer Health, and Focal One for their financial support of the Stay in the Game podcast in 2025. |

Community Stories Series to Hold Film Night on July 17
|
| |
Fans for the Cure’s Community Stories continues with the screening of a highly acclaimed documentary, What’s Next? The film chronicles a year in the life of Dr. Howard Tucker, named the world’s oldest practicing physician by Guinness World Records, who is forced to deal with the challenges of aging for the first time – at the age of 100. In addition to being a “spirited, curious, elegant, and quirky” neurologist, he must deal with social media, computer technology, and his online celebrity status as a TikTok sensation.
The film will be shown at the SVA Theatre (333 West 23rd Street, Manhattan) on Thursday, July 17 at 7:00 p.m. There will be a Q&A with Director Taylor Taglianetti and Executive Producer/Narrator, Austin Tucker, immediately following the film screening.
Tickets are available at $25, with proceeds helping to fund Fans for the Cure’s attendance at community outreach events. |

Join the Boone Squad, Support Yankees’ Manager’s 2025 Pledge
|
| |
Fans for the Cure is proud to introduce – the Boone Squad.
Aaron Boone is stepping up to the plate for Fans for the Cure—and we invite you to join him by becoming part of his Boone Squad. The Bronx Bombers’ manager has made a generous pledge to Fans for the Cure based on the number of 2025 regular season Yankees’ wins and home runs. This is not surprising from someone who has always led with heart and purpose.
Your pledge or donation in support of Aaron Boone’s will help us expand our outreach and bring free screenings and services to more communities all year long.
We are asking Yankee fans to consider pledging $1.00 per Yankees win + $1.00 per Yankees home run hit during the 2025 regular season.
Thanks to so many of you who have already answered the call and joined the Boone Squad to support Aaron Boone, our true and valued partner in the fight against prostate cancer.
