Dear Friends,
September is National Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, and for Fans for the Cure, it is traditionally our busiest month of the year. This year begins with a special opportunity to bring greater visibility to our mission: on Thursday, September 3, Fans for the Cure has been invited to ring the Closing Bell at the New York Stock Exchange.
From there, we'll continue doing what we do throughout the year—bringing our message to men where they are, at community events, trusted local gathering places, workplaces, and ballparks. September will take us from Buffalo and Richmond to Dyersville, Yankee Stadium, Grand Central–Madison, Harlem, and communities across New Jersey.
We are especially pleased to continue our work with Rutgers Cancer Institute and ScreenNJ, which last month awarded our charity a community education and engagement grant. We look forward to reaching even more New Jersey communities that can benefit most from prostate cancer education and access to early detection resources.
September is an important opportunity to remind men that more than 90% of prostate cancer cases are diagnosed before symptoms appear. A simple PSA blood test can be an important first step toward early detection, giving men more treatment options and the greatest opportunity for successful treatment.
Thank you for helping us carry that message throughout the month.
One conversation. One simple blood test. Better outcomes. |

Fans for the Cure Takes the Field in Milwaukee
|
| |
|
Fans for the Cure joined the Milwaukee Brewers on August 21 for a late-afternoon game against the Atlanta Braves at American Family Field. From the concourse behind home plate, we connected with fans and families, while Founder + Chief Advocacy Officer Ed Randall spoke about our mission during a jumbotron interview.
Fans also saw a prostate cancer call-to-action video featuring Fans for the Cure Chairman Steve Garvey and Negro Leagues Baseball Museum President Bob Kendrick. Our thanks to our friends at the Milwaukee Brewers and J&J for helping make the day possible. |

Third Consecutive August at Polar Park
|

On August 11, Fans for the Cure returned to Polar Park for our third consecutive Prostate Cancer Awareness Night with the Worcester Red Sox.
Boston Red Sox Hall of Famer and longtime Fans for the Cure supporter Rico Petrocelli was among those who threw out a ceremonial first pitch. Our thanks to Dr. Charles Steinberg, Alexis Dill, and the WooSox organization for another warm welcome and opportunity to connect with their fans. |

Fans for the Cure is proud to continue its collaboration with Rutgers Cancer Institute and ScreenNJ, which last month awarded our charity a community education and engagement grant.
The grant will support health fairs, educational materials, community events, and conversations with men and families in New Jersey communities that can benefit most from prostate cancer education and access to early detection resources.
We are grateful for these organizations’ continued confidence in our ability to reach and engage men throughout New Jersey. |

Ed Randall's 30 Catches in 30 Days
|
| |
|
To honor National Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, Ed Randall will take to the road throughout September for his annual 30 Catches in 30 Days, using a simple catch to start conversations about prostate cancer and early detection.
Bring 30 Catches in 30 Days to a community, workplace, or ballpark by donating or helping to raise $500 or more for Fans for the Cure. Ed will arrive with his Rawlings glove and a bag of baseballs for a catch and conversation, with proceeds supporting prostate cancer education and early detection programs for men and families.
To schedule a September catch with Ed, contact [email protected] or (888) 301-4414. |

As the Yankees start to put runs on the board again, there is still time to join the Boone Squad.
Support Aaron Boone's generous pledge by pledging $1 for every Yankees regular-season win and $1 for every team home run. We will total the numbers and send an invoice after the regular season.
It's a fun way to follow the Yankees down the stretch while supporting Fans for the Cure's programs. |
