Prostate cancer has a far-reaching impact, from the men who are diagnosed with and treated for the disease to the family, friends, and larger community who care about, support, and depend on them.
Building a Sustainable Community
As Fans for the Cure works to promote early detection and treatment of prostate cancer, we are mindful of the critically important role so many people play in encouraging the men in their lives to get tested for the disease and supporting those men battling it. We seek to build and strengthen this prostate cancer community of family, friends, work colleagues, medical professionals and beyond, through our outreach efforts and by providing a space where experiences, advice, and resources can be shared.
Who is a member of the prostate cancer community? Chances are, you, and here’s why:
Other than skin cancer, prostate cancer is the most common cancer in American men. About one man in 9 will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during his lifetime, which means most people know someone who has been diagnosed with the disease.
Sharing to Create Community
At Fans for the Cure, we understand the power of stories to inspire, educate, comfort, and instill hope. Sharing stories is a key to building and sustaining communities. Help us build and sustain the prostate cancer community. If you have been affected by prostate cancer, even though you were not diagnosed with the disease, please share your personal story with us. Your voice makes a difference.
